Is the hunter gatherer making a comeback?

I attended an interesting lecture by that Ben chap who was on Shipwrecked a while back. Now, shooting and skinning my own dinner (and I draw the line at scooping up road-kill)is not for me, but he has a point. Many of us are now growing our own veg and trying to reduce our dependency on supermarkets. What other ways could you suggest for us to simplify our living style and costs?
